Beryl is the New Hampshire state mineral. It is one of the most frequently sought-after species by New England field collectors.
A diligent collector can usually find a few beryl specimens in a hard day's digging at many New England pegmatite mine dumps. Incomplete
hexagonal crystal sections are much more common than terminated specimens. A gemmy, terminated, beryl crystal is a rewarding find for
all who venture into the field.
This gallery illustrates typical beryl specimens that may be found in New Hampshire by an amateur collector using hand tools, (pick,
shovel, hammer, chisel). In earlier times, other collectors have uncovered NH specimens superior to these. |

It broke into several sections when it was collected and was shared with another collector. The crystal yielded
